New outbreaks of COVID-19
What is happening and how to protect ourselves?

In recent weeks, several countries have reported a spike in cases of COVID-19, and Mexico has been no exception. Although for many the virus seemed like a bad memory of the past, the truth is that SARS-CoV-2 is still with us, mutating and adapting. And, with it, the need to keep us informed, protected and responsible.

What do we know about the latest outbreaks?
Recent increases in infections have been linked to new, rapidly circulating subvariants, especially in urban and tourist areas. Although most cases are mild, especially in vaccinated people,
vulnerable populations - the elderly, immunocompromised or chronically ill - remain at risk.

At Joya Hospitals we have observed a discreet but sustained increase in consultations for respiratory symptoms, which reminds us that COVID-19 has not disappeared, it has only changed its face.

Vaccination remains key

The World Health Organization (WHO) and Mexican health authorities recommend continuing to vaccinate the population, especially with booster doses for older adults and people with risk factors.

Getting vaccinated protects not only your health, but the health of those around you.

Prevention: the most powerful tool

Although the restrictions are no longer mandatory, the basic measures are still effective:

  • Wash your hands frequently
  • Use a mouth cover if you have symptoms
  • Ventilate enclosed spaces
  • Avoid close contact if you are sick
  • Consult your doctor in case of persistent symptoms

Hospitales Joya offers medical consultations, diagnostic tests and specialized care for any patient who presents symptoms or wishes to proactively protect themselves.
